Health Care Aide
General Information
The Health Care Aide Government of Alberta Provincial Curriculum Program is licensed by Alberta Advanced Education and Technology. This five month program will prepare individuals to work in continuing care facilities, hospitals and clinics, as well as in community homecare.
The program consists of classroom learning and supervised facility practice as well as two preceptored clinical experiences – one in a continuing care facility and one in homecare. In addition to a Government of Alberta Certificate, graduates will receive WHMIS, Fire Suppression, and First Aid/CPR Level 1 training.
* Applicants require a clear, recent criminal record check upon registration to the program.
Academic Requirements
Completion of a Grade 10 English or equivalent is required. Applicant must be an Alberta resident (includes a person who resides in Alberta and includes a person who moves to Alberta to take the program).
Medical Requirements
Applicants are required to provide the registrar with proof of a recent, clear Tuberculosis test. Training Inc. will provide instructions and documentation needed to complete this test.
Applicants are also required to provide proof of inoculation for Hepatitis B. Training Inc. will provide instructions and documentation needed to complete this inoculation.

Certification
Training Inc. will issue the Health Care Aide Government of Alberta Provincial Curriculum Program Certificate upon completion and graduation of the program.
