Community Disability Support Worker Evening Program

The accelerated Community Disability Support Worker (CDSW) evening program runs for 12-weeks. This is an interactive and comprehensive program is licensed by the Private Career Colleges Branch through the Ministry of Alberta Advanced Education. It provides students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to secure employment as a support worker in disability services.
Support workers facilitate active living within the community for those with disabling conditions. They assist people with exploring lifestyle, leisure, and educational needs, and they also help in performing daily living activities.
If you have a positive attitude, are patient, friendly, and care about helping others, then this program is for you!
Students completing the CDSW program at Training Inc. will have a wonderful opportunity to be introduced to industry professionals and guest speakers as they move through the program.

In addition to the 6 classroom modules, you will also step into an organized 90-hour practicum, allowing you an opportunity to put theory-into-practice and also meet potential employers.

There is a need in the Lethbridge region for trained individuals in community disability services. Community Disability Support Workers work in various environments, including residential, educational, recreational, vocational, and health care settings. Independent employers or Service Providers employ Community Disability Support Workers in:
- Private Homes
- Home Care & Long Term Care
- Group Homes
- Retirement Homes
- Community Organizations, and more!

The CDSW program at Training Inc. includes a training module to assist students learn effective employability skills (interview skills, job search skills, etc.). We will also assist you create a professional resume and find employment after you complete your training program if you require extra assistance. - Mature Student Entrance (19 Years+): Grade 10 English level competency or equivalency (students have the option of taking a standardized aptitude test at Training Inc.).
- OR Under 19 Years: Grade 12 level competencies or equivalency.

Training Inc. will issue a Community Disability Support Worker certificate upon completion of the program. A minimum passing grade of 70% is required.
